Virtual Offices, Ready Offices and Opening an Office: A Guide for Accountants
Certified public accountants (SMMM) in Turkey look for office space for two reasons: to open or move their own office, and to offer clients a reliable company address. This guide covers the general steps to open an accounting office, which way of working suits whom, and how Archerson Workspaces works with accountants.
It is general information; confirm professional rules with the chamber you belong to.
Short answer
Opening an accounting office generally takes a licence, registration with the professional chamber, reporting the office address to the chamber and a start-of-business notice to the tax office. A private ready office suits your own practice; a virtual office helps during a move or as an extra meeting place, but confirm with your chamber whether it is accepted as an office address. To offer clients a company address, the Archerson Partner programme lets you choose a commission or a client discount for each referral.
1. What does it take to open an accounting office?
Opening an accounting office has a professional side and a tax side. The professional side covers the licence, registration with your professional chamber and reporting the office address to it; the tax side covers the start-of-business notice for self-employment income and the inspection. The conditions an office must meet depend on professional regulations; confirm the details with your chamber.
- Licence and chamber registration: The accountancy licence and registration with the chamber in the province where you will practise.
- Office address: Reporting the office address to the chamber; ask the chamber which conditions the office must meet.
- Tax registration: The start-of-business notice as a self-employed professional, the inspection at the office address and the opening of your tax registration.
- Receipts: Confirm current obligations such as self-employment receipts and the electronic receipt system with your chamber and the tax office.
2. Can accountants use a virtual office?
A virtual office gives accountants a business address, post and parcel handling, and meeting room hours depending on the package. Whether a virtual office address can be reported to the chamber as an accounting office depends on professional regulations, and it may not count as an office on its own; confirm with your chamber before reporting it.
A virtual office can help while you move your office, when you want to meet clients in another district, or whenever you need an extra address and meeting place.
| Package | What is included |
|---|---|
| Basic | Use of the company address; post and parcel handling with SMS notification |
| Plus | Everything in Basic + 4 meeting room hours a month |
| Pro | Everything in Plus + 4 coworking days a month |
3. A ready office for your accounting practice
A ready office lets an accountant open their own office without set-up costs or the burden of a move. Archerson ready offices are furnished and private to you; electricity, water, gas, internet, cleaning and standard tea, coffee and water are included in the service fee. There is no set-up fee, you get 8 meeting room hours every month, and the minimum term is 6 months. You can pay in cash, by bank transfer or in instalments by credit card.
Your clients are welcomed during secretariat hours. If you plan to work evenings during filing periods, check the building access hours:
- Archerson Kadıköy: Building access is Monday–Saturday 08:00–23:00 and Sunday 09:00–18:00. Secretarial services are available Monday–Friday 09:00–19:00 and Saturday 09:00–18:00; there is no secretarial service on Sunday.
- Archerson Acarkent: Building access in Acarkent is continuous. Secretarial services are available Monday–Friday 08:30–18:00 and Saturday 08:30–17:00; there is no secretarial service on Sunday.
4. Offering your clients a company address: Archerson Partner
Archerson Partner is a referral programme for accountants and other professionals. When you refer a client who needs a company address, a ready office or a meeting room, you choose for each request whether to earn a commission or give your client a discount. You register at partner.archerson.co; the Archerson team reviews your application, and once approved you create client requests and track your referrals in the panel.
When your client’s company is set up at an Archerson address
- Who does what: Archerson provides the service agreement and the address code in it; you file the formation or address change and handle the tax certificate, trade registry and chamber registration.
- Documents: For the service agreement, a new company provides the authorised person’s ID, email and phone, home address and line of business; an existing company moving its address also provides its tax certificate and signature circular.
- Timing: The tax office inspection usually takes place within 10-15 days of your application.
- Inspection: The Archerson secretariat receives the officer and hands over the original service agreement; the company’s authorised person must be present, and the officer asks for the company stamp and signature circular.
- Tax offices: Archerson Kadıköy belongs to the Göztepe Tax Office and Archerson Acarkent to the Beykoz Tax Office.
- Agreement and activity: The virtual office service agreement runs for at least 6 months; retail sales are not accepted in Archerson ready offices.
The most common inspection problems among clients are a trade name that is settled after formation but not passed on to the team, and a missed SMS from the tax office announcing the visit time. Passing the final trade name to the team speeds things up.
See the Archerson Partner programme to refer clients and choose a commission or a discount for each request.
